The degree of decomposition of NaHCO3 and KHCO3 (particle size above t
he critical diameter of 16 and 22 mum) in flame has been investigated.
The compounds were introduced into the flame of special burner and th
e particles passed through the flame were collected and examined in MO
M Derivatograph Q-1500 D. It has benn concluded that: (1) the decompos
ition rate above the critical diameter is dependent on the particle si
ze, (2) different suppressing mechanism might dominate below and above
the size limits.
