Superplasticity in tetragonal zirconia polycrystal is briefly discusse
d from the view point of grain size stability and of the role of grain
boundary glass phase on the tensile ductility. Extensive ductility of
TZP is associated with its grain size stability during high-temperatu
re deformation. The ductility is further improved by a suitable additi
on of grain boundary glass phase. The elongation to failure in TZP is
described as a function of the Zener-Hollomon parameter.
