A laser technique of local microanalysis has been devepoled to study l
ead isotope variations in galena crystals. Polished sections are used
to get samples. Sampling conditions correspond to requirements of the
high-precision mass-spectrometric analysis of lead isotope ratios. It
has been shown that lead isotope fractionation during galena evaporati
on under the laser beam does not introduce into the total error (0.1 -
0.15% as 2sigma) of the isotope analysis. The linear dimensions of an
alytical spot vary from 1000 to 20 - 20 mum.
