THIN SHELLS IN FLAT MCVITTIE SPACETIMES

The development of voids in a flat McVittie background is calculated, in the thin-shell approximation. This work follows closely that of Lak e & Pim (1985); the basic modification is the introduction of the McVi ttie spacetime, which describes a spherical mass embedded in an asympt otically Robertson-Walker spacetime.
