A method has been developed of sorption-atomic-absorption and atomic-f
luorescence determination of silver at the level of back-ground concen
tration in sea and river waters. For preconcentration of Ag a polymer
ether was used. The heating and direct atomization for concentrate (wi
thout preliminary preparation) was carried out in a two chamber electr
othermal cruciblecell atomizer for simultaneous AAS and AFS analysis.
The limits of detection for silver in water are 0.002 - 0.005 ug/l.
