The analysis of physical interactions responsible for the generation o
f acoustic waves in a conductor under action of electromagnetic waves
incident on its surface is performed. It is shown, that the basic feat
ures of an inertial, an inductive, and deformation force interactions
can be derived assuming purely surface character of the exciting force
. The state-of-art in experimental research in this field is discussed
