Abstract
In a typical real business cycle model, we find that output dynamics a re determined primarily by impulse dynamics and that endogenous propag ation mechanisms are weak. Consequently, the model must rely on extern al sources of dynamics in order to replicate the univariate dynamics o f U.S. per capita GNP.
