Abstract
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an illness that is characterized by debili tating fatigue and a group of other related symptoms. Few epidemiologi cal studies have been conducted, and none have focused on a nursing po pulation. The present study is the first to assess the prevalence of C hronic Fatigue Syndrome-related symptoms in a sample of nurses. Demogr aphic characteristics, symptoms, and possible prevalence rates are pre sented and discussed When using both narrow and more inclusive criteri a to define this symptom complex, higher rates of this disorder were f ound than in previous epidemiological studies The implications of thes e findings are discussed.
