Abstract
This paper summarizes the ACERC research activities being conducted as part of the Thrust Area 3 Working Group entitled Pollutant Formation and Control/Waste Incineration. The primary goals of the studies in th is thrust area are to provide fundamental understanding regarding the fate of hazardous species during incineration processes, to identify n ew low emission control strategies for both conventional fossil fuel a nd waste treatment systems, and to develop computer-aided design tools which can be used to evaluate the potential of various air pollutant control options. The thrust area includes three projects in the emissi ons subgroup and three in the incineration/thermal treatment subgroup. Each project is briefly described as are the most recent significant findings.
