E. Morallon et al., BEHAVIOR OF PT(111) IN THE PRESENCE OF THE SULFATE ANIONS IN NAOH SOLUTION, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 360(1-2), 1993, pp. 89-100
In NaOH + Na2SO4 solution a Pt(111) electrode shows a pair of broad ir
reversible peaks at 0.56 V (cathodic peak) and 0.67 V (anodic peak), a
fter several cycles between 0.06 and 0.89 V. These peaks can be associ
ated with the formation of a surface redox couple containing adsorbed
S-species that block the hydrogen adsorption-desorption process.
