INFLUENCE OF TRANSFERS BETWEEN ADSORBENT PARTICLES ON GRAVIMETRIC-DETERMINATION OF ADSORPTION-KINETICS

Of the possible effects which can influence the results of gravimetric measurement of adsorption kinetics, the thickness of the bed of adsor bent particles was studied. Assuming Darcy flow in the bed, a numerica l simulation was carried out for the case of NaX zeolite-water, showin g the influence of the bed thickness on the overall characteristic tim e. This shows that, in the presence of the bed effect, the determinati on of the microporous kinetics may be affected by an error of several orders of magnitude.
