J. Mouroux et al., PANCREATICOPLEURAL FISTULA AND ESOPHAGEAL CANCER - ONE-STAGE SURGICAL-TREATMENT OF THE 2 LESIONS, Annales de chirurgie, 47(8), 1993, pp. 784-786
To our knowledge, the association of a pancreatico-pleural fistula and
an esophageal carcinoma has never been previously reported. We report
the case of a 48 year old man, who presented with a squamous-cell car
cinoma of the esophagus associated with a right pancreatico-pleural fi
stula. This association raises the problem of the surgical strategy. I
n our case, we chose to treat the two lesions during the same operatio
n. We performed left pancreatectomy with splenectomy and an Ivor-Lewis
procedure, with an uneventful postoperative course.
