Abstract
A new and efficient enantioselective synthesis of Boc-alpha-amino acid s has been developed. Starting from an enantiomerically enriched epoxy alcohol the sequence involves a regioselective nucleophilic epoxide o pening by diphenylmethylamine (benzhydrilamine), hydrogenolysis/protec tion of the amino group, and oxidation of the diol moiety.
