We studied the effect of synthesis chamber atmospheres and purificatio
n methods on the resistance of ultrafine diamond powder to air oxidati
on. Stability temperature ranges were determined by two types of therm
al analysis. Synthesis with CO2 and a composite gas-phase and liquid-p
hase purification somewhat raised the heat resistance.
