Sr. Sarkar et al., PHOTOSPALLATION OF COMPLEX NUCLEI AT INTERMEDIATE ENERGIES .3. COMPARISON WITH PICA CALCULATION, Radiochimica Acta, 62(1-2), 1993, pp. 7-16
Monte Carlo calculations based on the PICA (Photon-induced Intranuclea
r Cascade Analysis) code by Gabriel and Alsmiller have been performed
for bremsstrahlung-induced spallation of V-51, Co-59, Y-89, I-127, Cs-
133, La-139 and Au-197 at bremsstrahlung end-point energies of 200 - 4
00 MeV and compared with the experimental results reported in part I o
f this series of work and others and with the empirical ones reported
in part II. The gross features of the experimental and empirical mass
and isotopic distributions were found to be reproduced by the PICA cod
e qualitatively for lighter targets of mass = 51 - 89, but not for hea
vier targets. The limitations of the reproducibility by the PICA code
were examined. The total photoabsorption cross sections are also discu
ssed.
