Abstract
Boys more often than girls are affected by all the cognitive developme ntal disorders of childhood. Differences in the etiology of learning d isabilities as well as general sex differences in learning styles in b oys versus girls may explain the male preponderance in the prevalence of learning disabilities. The effects on learning of hormonal sex diff erences, maturation rate differences, and differences in frequency of perinatal brain injury will be discussed.
