F. Rosch et Sm. Qaim, NUCLEAR-DATA RELEVANT TO THE PRODUCTION OF THE POSITRON EMITTING TECHNETIUM ISOTOPE 94MTC VIA THE MO-94(P,N)-REACTION, Radiochimica Acta, 62(3), 1993, pp. 115-121
Excitation functions were measured by the stacked-foil technique for M
o-94(p,xn)Tc-94m, Tc-94g, Tc-93m, Tc-93m,g-reactions from threshold to
18.4 MeV. Thin samples of 93.9% enriched Mo-94 powder of 10 mm diamet
er and 3-6 Mg/cm2 thickness were prepared via a sedimentation method.
Thick target yields of Tc-94m were calculated from the measured excita
tion function, and the levels of radiotechnetium impurities were deter
mined experimentally. The optimum proton energy range for the producti
on of Tc-94m was found to be E(p) = 13-->7 MeV, with the expected thic
k target yield of 54 mCi (2 GBq)/muAh. The isomeric cross section rati
o for the isomeric pair Tc-94m,g is discussed.
