Studies on the extraction of molybdenum(VI) and uranium(VI) from HCI s
olution by triisodecyl amine (Alamine 310), tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP
), di-n-pentylsulphoxide (DPSO) and their mixtures in benzene, in the
range of 1-10 M aq. HCI, show that extractions are quantitative in mos
t cases in the higher acidity range 6-8 M. Extraction by bis(2,4,4-tri
methyl pentyl) dithiophosphinic acid (Cyanex 301) and its mixtures stu
died in the range of 0.2-1 M aq. HCI shows quantitative extraction for
both the metals by Cyanex 301 and Alamine 31 0 mixtures only at lower
acidity (approximately 0.2 M). The SCN- ion has a profound influence
on the extraction of uranium(VI) by mixtures of 5% (v/v) Alamine 310 a
nd 5% (v/v) TBP from 1 M HCI and the extraction is approximately 95% a
t approximately 0.2 M SCN- concentration. Synergism is marked in the e
xtraction of molybdenum(VI) for the mixtures of Alamine 310 and TBP, A
lamine 310 and Cyanex 301, and for uranium(VI), by mixtures of Alamine
310 and DPSO as well as Alamine 310 and Cyanex 301.
