Abstract
Using an elegant method for sampling of pituitary portal blood the sec retory characteristics of gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) durin g the oestradiol reduced surge are studied. It is demonstrated that th e induced signal for ovulation in the ewe is a surge of GnRH released into the portal blood.
