Abstract
Reactions of 5-substituted-2-aminobenzenethiols (Ia-f) with (E)-3-(4-d imethylaminobenzylidene)flavanone(II) in anhyd. toluene using trifluor oacetic acid as the catalyst affords 10-substituted-6a, dimethylaminop henyl)-6-phenyl-6H-[1]benzopyrano[3, 4-c][1,5]benzothiazepines (IIIa-f ). The structural assignments are based on microanalytical data and 1R , H-1 NMR and mass spectral studies.
