As. Kanade et al., REDUCTION OF SUBSTITUTED ISOPROPYLIDENE METHYLENEMALONATES USING BOROHYDRIDE EXCHANGE RESIN, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. B: organic chemistry, including medical chemistry, 32(8), 1993, pp. 896-897
Substituted isopropylidene methylenemalonates (Knoevenagel type produc
ts) (1-7) derived from Meldrum's acid (2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxan-4,6-dio
ne) are readily reduced by borohydride exchange resin under mild react
ion conditions to give 8-14 in high yields and in a state of high puri
ty. The advantage of this method lies in its simplicity of performance
, high yield of pure products and regeneration of resin to its initial
activity in a single step.
