A. Ramachandran et Sm. Mayanna, ELECTRODEPOSITION OF NI-FE ALLOYS FROM SULFATE-CITRATE-AMINO ACID BATH, Indian Journal of Technology, 31(11), 1993, pp. 791-795
The electrodeposition of nickel-iron alloys from alkaline sulphate bat
h containing diammonium hydrogen citrate and amino acids has been stud
ied. The deposition potential, the percentage composition of the alloy
and the current efficiency of the bath solutions are determined as a
function of bath composition, pH, current density, temperature, agitat
ion of the bath solution and the concentration of addition agents. The
electroplated alloys exhibited fee structure. Throwing power is evalu
ated. Functional properties such as adhesion, hardness, porosity, magn
etic properties and corrosion resistance of the alloys, electroplated
under optimum plating conditions are evaluated. The anomalous codeposi
tion of Fe is minimised and the quality of the plated alloys improved,
only with the combination of diammonium hydrogen citrate and amino ac
id.
