Abstract
Fluff pulp production was the first product strategy of the Bayerische Zellstoff GmbH in Kelheim. This decision has been taken for three rea sons: First, with adding methanol and using saw mill residual wood it is possible to get a very long fibered pulp. Secondly, fibre strength is of secondary importance and there are other quality parameters to c ome to the fore. These quality demands could be met through large scal e tests. The third and most important criterion is the price for fluff pulp (higher than for paper pulp). With producing high-quality fluff pulp a solid basis for the sale of ORGANOCELL pulp is given. After thi s phase of fluff pulp production the making of paper grade pulp will b e worked out Further application fields of ORGANOCELL pulp such as dis solving pulp or specialty pulp for will be elaborated in cooperation w ith the processing industries. This strategy will allow to introduce O RGANOCELL pulp into the market step by step.
