Abstract
A liquid chromatographic (LC) method with electrochemical detection wa s developed for the determination of sodium ethylmercurithiosalicylate (thimerosal) by ligand exchange with tetramethylenedithiocarbamate. T his method was used to study the photodecomposition of thimerosal unde r several solution conditions. The results obtained were compared with those obtained by a previously reported LC assay and a standard cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometric method.
