Abstract
Patrolling repairman systems (PRS) consist of multiple machines servic ed by a single repairman. We offer here an approach for modeling asymm etric PRS with general repair time and walk time distributions, and de velop a cost measure suitable for comparing the costs of various servi ce schedules (patrolling disciplines) in a PRS. The probabilistic beha vior of a broad class of PRS is characterized via certain semi-regener ative and Markov renewal processes. The properties of these processes are employed in obtaining a cost measure. The computational details in volved in the application of this modeling approach are shown for a si mple example.
