Abstract
C-banding patterns have been determined in four pamphagid species (Ort hoptera: Pamphagidae) having equal chromosome constitution after conve ntional staining. Remarkable interspecific diversifications in both th e amount and distribution of constitutive heterochromatin have been ob served, thus indicating that a link occurs between heterochromatin cha nges and speciation processes within the genus Pamphagus.
