A. Schnider et al., EFFECTS OF A RIGHT-HEMISPHERE STROKE ON AN ARTISTS PERFORMANCE, Neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, and behavioral neurology, 6(4), 1993, pp. 249-255
An artist retained his ability and desire to express himself through a
rt after right parieto-temporo-occipital infarction. Poststroke drawin
gs differed markedly from premorbid ones with changes reflecting both
behavioral and mood disturbances, that is, hemispatial neglect, hyperv
erbalization, and rapid cycling bipolar disorder. ''Artistic style'' r
eflects the full spectrum of sensorimotor, cognitive, and emotional ca
pacities. Changes in style after brain lesions should be explained alo
ng these dimensions of brain functions.
