Abstract
This introduction explains several aspects of the measurement and anal ysis of event-related brain potentials, and also discusses some interp retation issues which are especially relevant for language studies. It is intended to provide background for language researchers who are no t familiar with the methodology, so that they will be able to understa nd the accompanying experimental papers in this special issue.
