Despite much information about various methods to analyze the face, a
practical stepwise methodology has not been firmly established in otol
aryngology teaching programs. A general guideline for facial analysis
would be helpful to individuals not totally familiar with facial analy
sis for assessing facial deformities resulting from to traumatic, neop
lastic, or developmental causes. This article attempts to distill and
integrate previously established guidelines for facial analysis into e
ight major steps to provide a preliminary and practical methodology fo
r initial facial assessment.
