We investigate the interplay of Coulomb dissociation and the nuclear b
reakup mechanisms in describing the angular distributions of the neutr
ons emitted in the exclusive (Be-11, Be-10+n) as well as the inclusive
(Be-11, n) reactions on several targets measured recently. Experiment
al data for both types of reactions can be well understood within thes
e mechanisms. The ''inelastic'' interactions of the Be-10 fragment wit
h the target nucleus are found to be crucial for describing both shape
s and the absolute magnitudes of the inclusive neutron angular distrib
utions. The exclusive angular distributions appear to be better suited
for extracting information about the structure of the projectile.
