A SYMPLECTIC MODEL CALCULATION OF TRANSVERSE ELECTRON-SCATTERING FROMFACTORS FOR MG-24

The electron scattering transverse form factors for the transitions 0 --> 2(1)+ and 0+ --> 2(2)+ for Mg-24 are calculated in the symplectic model. Results show that the predictions of the sp(3,R) model are imp roved over calculations restricted to the valence shell. Unlike longit udinal form factor calculations the effects of higher shells are not a ccounted for by simply introducing an effective charge factor.
