Abstract
Frequency analysis compares the more traditional mechanical contact st ylus sensing with a new noncontact optical sensing method to evaluate the feasibility of the methods and to compare their precision and rang e using seven printing papers. There was good agreement between the me thods at larger Lateral dimensions For finer structure, the optical se nsing reported a much higher roughness than did the mechanical stylus especially for the smooth samples.
