Abstract
It has been shown in our previous studies that the devitrification tem perature of a cryoprotective system varies with sub-T-g annealing cond itions. The present study further confirms this phenomenon in 60% sorb itol solutions and demonstrates that the critical warming rate necessa ry to avoid devitrification could be significantly increased due to an nealing at sub-T-g temperature. The results suggest that the critical warming rate is an experimental phenomenon and its value varies with c ryoprotective conditions.
