Ia. Ransley et al., ADSORPTION AND THERMAL-DECOMPOSITION OF ETHENE AND PROPENE ON RU(0001), STUDIED BY RAIRS, Surface science, 298(1), 1993, pp. 187-194
Ethene and propene adsorption on Ru(0001) has been studied using refle
ction-absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS). Low temperature (appro
ximately 100 K) adsorption of ethene is presumed to produce a di-sigma
adsorbed species but this was not detected. Low temperature adsorptio
n of propene produced a physisorbed layer but at 130 K a weak spectrum
attributed to a di-sigma adsorbed species was observed. Ethene and pr
opene both converted to alkylidyne species at higher temperature and p
ropylidyne decomposed via the ethylidyne species.
