A. Oliveras et al., RISKS OF ACQUIRED RENAL CYSTIC-DISEASE IN LONG-TERM RENAL-TRANSPLANT RECIPIENTS - REPORT OF ONE CASE AND GENERAL-REVIEW, Clinical transplantation, 7(6), 1993, pp. 578-581
Acquired renal cystic disease (ARCD) is a pathological condition occur
ring in patients undergoing hemodialysis. While often asymptomatic, th
ese patients may present serious complications such as pain, hematuria
, renal enlargement, massive hemorrhage and development of renal cell
carcinoma. It is known that renal transplantation (RT) may delay the p
rogression of the acquired cysts or even make them regress. However, a
lthough rare, severe complications may occur, as is reported in this c
ase of acute severe bleeding 5 years after RT.
