Nucleate pool boiling heat transfer coefficients for boiling of aceton
e-water binary liquid mixtures of various compositions at atmospheric
pressure on a horizontal plain and integral fin (26 fin/in) tubes have
been obtained experimentally. The minimum in the heat transfer coeffi
cients is found to occur approximately at 0.15 mole fraction of aceton
e, irrespective of the heating tube. However, for the boiling of all t
he compositions of liquid mixture, it is found that the ideal heat tra
nsfer coefficient is always greater than the measured heat transfer co
efficient for both the tubes. Further, the heat transfer coefficients
are always greater for finned tube. The heat transfer coefficients for
the plain tube show a good agreement with the correlations of Palen &
Small, and Schlunder.
