Abstract
A coaxial magnetically compressed discharge initiated by the electrica l explosion of a thin metal foil is simulated numerically. The initial phase is examined in a one-dimensional approximation of radiative mag netogas dynamics. The dynamics of the initial phase of the discharge, as well as its gas dynamic, radiative, and energy characteristics, are studied.
