The roles of resins and adsorbents in corn sweetener production are re
viewed, These include decolorisation of the syrup, deashing by ion exc
hange (both dextrose- side and fructose- side), chromatographic separa
tion to enrich the HFCS and mixed bed polishing of the final product.
The importance of uniform resin particle size is explained and informa
tion is given about a new weak base anion resin, which allows longer r
uns between regenerations and therefore reduced costs.
