Premature neonates fed ultrasonically homogenized human milk had bette
r weight gain and triceps skin-fold thickness than did a control group
given untreated human milk (p < 0.01) and also had lower fat loss dur
ing tube feeding (p < 0.01). Ultrasonic homogenization of human milk a
ppears to minimize loss of fat and thus allows better growth of premat
ure infants.
