The first Doppler-shift-free crystal-spectrometer measurement of stati
onary highly stripped uranium ions from a high-energy electron beam io
n trap is presented. Thirteen 2s1/2-2p3/2 transitions in eight ionizat
ion states between Li-like U89+ and Ne-like U82+ are identified and me
asured with an accuracy as high as 37 ppm, providing benchmarks for te
sting relativistic correlation and quantum electrodynamic effects in h
ighly charged multielectron ions. A value of 47.39 +/- 0.35 eV is foun
d for the 2s1/2 Lamb shift in Li-like U89+, in excellent agreement wit
h theory.
