Abstract
We present a further study on the Miura and Backlund transformations f or the Sato-type hierarchies of integrable equations in the formulatio n of Konopelchenko and Oevel. We identify the elementary Miura and Bac klund transformations, and apply them to recover, in a simple and unif ied fashion, various types of solutions to the 2+1 dimensional KP and mKP equations.
