Mwy. Khan et Tk. Bhattacharyya, A REAPPRAISAL OF THE STRATIGRAPHY OF BAILADILA-GROUP, BACHELI, BASTARDISTRICT, MP, Journal of the Geological Society of India, 42(6), 1993, pp. 549-562
The metasedimentary sequence of Bailadila Group exposed in Bacheli are
a, sooth Bastar is studied in detail. Based on field relations, struct
ural disposition, conglomerate occurrence and petrographic characters,
Bailadila Group is divided into three Subgroups, which in turn compri
se five formations. Formal stratigraphic formations identified are nam
ely, Bhansi metabasalt-metapelite, Bacheli metasiliciclastic, East Rid
ge shale, Loa conglomerate and shale and Kailash Nagar Iron Formation.
Based on the stratigraphic continuity, the metabasalt-metapelite asso
ciation (Bengpal) underlying the feldspathic quartzite (Bacheli metasi
liciclastic-Bailadila) is proposed to be included as basal formation o
f Bailadila Group. Further, high La(N)/Yb(N)(10.41 - 15.89) ratio and
Eu/Eu (0.56-0.64) negative anomalies suggest a sialic continental cru
st. It is also proposed that metavolcanic-elastic association at Chand
enar and Tulsi Dongar being similar in lithoassociation to the propose
d Bhansi Formation should also be considered of Bailadila Group.
