Using polybutadiene and polystyrene-polybutadiene block copolymers as
examples, alternative possibilities are shown for preparing organometa
llic polymers by the immobilization of organometallic compounds on the
polymer matrices: for synthesis of linear soluble polymers; or format
ion of intermolecular complexes leading to polymer networks, with the
degree of cross-linking depending on the extent of complex formation.
The properties of the polymers prepared are determined by the type of
organometallic complexes obtained. Palladium- and rhodium-containing-p
olymers showed catalytic activity in hydrogenation reactions.
