On the basis of escape-probability method of V. V. Sobolev for the cas
e of collisional excitation and ionization, calculations of the emissi
on spectra of hydrogen and helium plasma with cosmic H/He abundance ha
ve been made for high temperatures (T(e) = 40 000-100 000 K) and densi
ties (N(e) = 10(11) = 10(14) cm-3). It is shown that the energy emitte
d in hydrogen lines is comparable with that of ionized-helium lines. I
t turns out also that for a hot hydrogen plasma with tau(Lc) > 1 all s
ubordinate lines of hydrogen are optically thick simultaneously (tau >
100), although al low temperatures (T(e) = 10 000-20 000 K) the optic
al depths of subordinate lines increase gradually.
