The genus Elongobula Finlay is removed from the vicinity of Buliminoid
es and reclassified in the Orthoplectidae, Buliminacea, because its ty
pe species E. chattonensis possesses a toothplate, besides being troch
ospiral with a clearly defined seriality. The revision of Buliminella
showed that this genus is characterised by a closed periapertural lip
and the absence of a toothplate. Species classified in Buliminella, wi
th an apertural flap and furrowed apertural face, left without generic
attribution after the redefinition of Buliminella are revised and rec
lassified in Elongobula. The revision results in the designation of va
rious lectotypes and in the creation of the new species E. andromachae
, E. arethusae, E. electrae, E. iphigeneae, E. medeae, and the new nam
e E. lecalvezae. Elongobula is included with Floresina and Orthoplecta
in the Orthoplectidae because of the similar high seriality, grooved
apertural face and apertural flap and toothplate shape.
