Ig. Lang et al., THE INCREASE OF THE RATE OF THE MONOMOLECULAR PROCESS OF EXCITON FORMATION IN A STRONG MAGNETIC-FIELD, Solid state communications, 88(8), 1993, pp. 639-644
We have calculated the rate of the binding of electron-hole pairs (EHP
) into Wannier-Mott excitons in a strong magnetic field of the linear
approximation and in the intensity of the exciting light. It is shown
that the application of a strong magnetic held leads to an abrupt incr
ease in the rate of the monomolecular (linear) process of the exciton
formation in alpha(-2) times for N greater than or equal to 4 and in a
lpha(-1) times for N = 2 (N is the number of LO phonons being emitted,
alpha is the Frohlich coupling constant). For InSb (alpha = 0.014) it
means that the exciton formation rate increases 10(4) times for N gre
ater than or equal to 4 and 10(2) times for N = 2.
