T. Kiyosue et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF 2 CDNAS (ERD11 AND ERD13) FOR DEHYDRATION-INDUCIBLE GENES THAT ENCODE PUTATIVE GLUTATHIONE S-TRANSFERASES IN ARABIDOPSIS-THALIANA L, FEBS letters, 335(2), 1993, pp. 189-192
Two cDNA clones, designated ERD11 and ERD13, isolated from a cDNA libr
ary from Arabidopsis thaliana L. plants dehydrated for 1 h were sequen
ced and characterized. These clones encoded polypeptides that were hom
ologous to glutathione S-transferases of tobacco and maize. Genomic So
uthern hybridization suggested that there are a few additional genes s
howing high similarity to the ERD11 gene in the Arabidopsis genome. Th
e expression of the genes for ERD11 and ERD13 was induced by dehydrati
on, but was not affected by the application of four plant growth regul
ators, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid 6-benzylaminopurine, abscisic ac
id, or gibberellic acid.
