Abstract
In the past few years, the role of membrane-bound transport genes in h uman disease has been increasingly recognized and understood. Of these genes, the p170 membrane glycoprotein may function as an outward tran sport pump for many cancer chemotherapeutic drugs associated with the multidrug resistance phenotype. This article reviews the different cla sses of the current major modulators of multidrug resistance.
