B. Srinivas et al., CATALYTIC PROPERTIES OF DINUCLEAR COPPER(II) COMPLEXES IN THE OXIDATION OF 2 ELECTRON-DONORS BY DIOXYGEN, Transition metal chemistry, 18(6), 1993, pp. 567-569
Dinuclear copper(II) complexes of differing magnetic and redox propert
ies derived from various dinucleating ligands were investigated for th
eir catalytic activity in the oxidation of 3,5-di-t-butylcatechol (3,5
-DTBC) and ascorbic acid by oxygen. Poor activity was exhibited by di-
mu-hydroxocopper(II) complexes of 2,2'-bypyridyl, 1,10-phenanthroline
and N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine(TMEDA). Dicopper(II) complexe
s of Schiff base ligands, obtained from 2,6-diformyl-4-methylphenol an
d diamines, are relatively less active compared with ligands derived f
rom monoamines. The difference is explained on the basis of redox beha
viour.
