Abstract
The kinetics of the reduction of octacyanometallates(IV) in alkaline a queous medium have been studied spectrophotometrically. The experiment al results are in agreement with following rate law: M(CN)(8)(3-)]/dt= k(obs)[M(CN)(8)(3-)](2)[OH-][Na+] where k(obs)=4.1x10(-2)M(-3)s(-1) (M o) and 4.0x10(-4)M(-3)s(-1)(W). The rate data were used to calculate t he thermodynamic activation parameters Delta H-double dagger and Delta S-double dagger . A mechanism of the reaction is discussed.
